Warm up those vocal cords and get ready to be the life of the party again as everyone's favourite Nintendo character has invited his friends for some more mini-game fun. On top of the six dozen mini-games, the newest addition to this Mario Party is the add-on mic which lets gamers talk their way through a collection of quizzes, foot races and other games using a hand-held microphone.
While a bit of a novelty, the mic works well, even if the games could have just as easily been played with a regular joystick.
Beyond being able to use your voice as a controller for some mini-games, the basic dynamic in the rest of the game has stayed the same.
Mario and three of his pals from the Mushroom Kingdom square off and collect stars and coins while hopping around one of six game boards.
Along the way, they'll stop and play mini-games involving combinations of four players. The games are often simple to learn and easy to control, making the friendly competition between you and your friends to win a fun gaming experience.
Since the game is supposed to settle some type of dispute between the feuding sun and the moon, game boards can be played both at night and during the day.
When the sun sets, new routes open, new characters awaken and special events occur.
Since the game is really about the creative mini-games as much as the main board game, Nintendo has made sure any minigames you've played and won remain unlocked and available to play anytime you like from the main menu.
It may not be Monopoly, but why bother with board games when you can have just as much virtual fun.
